BRAAAAAAINS...

Today we had our company Halloween Potluck. We originally had it scheduled for tomorrow but the CEO will be coming down for a little meeting and presentation so we thought it'd be best to show our good sides tomorrow and keep the raucous rowdiness for today. It was no surprise that I showed up to the potluck with cupcakes and also no surprise that my costume was a combination of two of my favorite things: PINUPS and ZOMBIES!!

The two cupcakes that I made were Bloodshot Eyeballs (pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting) and Mummies (chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting).

Check them out!

I modeled these after what my eyeballs look like after a night of baking X-P

Watch out, Jon! I am a very, very scary zombie! Geez, why doesn't anyone take me SERIOUSLY?

Waaaiiit a second... these aren't brains!

So much fun! Can't wait for our party on Halloween. Got some more cupcakes to bake -- who knows what we'll come up with next??

P.S. -- check out some more fun zombie pinups here and here!

October is...

...NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH!!

Every year when October comes around I get invited to participate in the Bath and Body Works team for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Toni, my best friend, heads up the team and works to solicit as many participants and donors as possible. This will be my third year participating with her team and the first year that I have more motivation than before. This year, my mother and two aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer. This year, the cause has become more important to me than ever.

On Fridays, my Aunt Carol orders two dozen cupcakes to share with her fellow chemo patients at the hospital. I decided to show my support by including some cupcakes with breast cancer awareness ribbons and some with pink frosting and pearl dragées. I love me some dragées!

Each one of these ladies is a fighter and they're all going through their personal battles against breast cancer with amazing strength and optimism. I know that they will all pull through and be better for what they had to overcome. I will be participating in the walk on November 1st.
